SEMINAR SERIES

The NSW Commission for Children and Young People is hosting seminar series in 2011 to build and share knowledge about the middle years of childhood (ages 9-14).

This is a critical period of transition and change for children with the onset of puberty and a second wave of brain development

Three seminars will be held focussing on physical development, social and emotional development and the real and perceived risks to these children in the community.

Further information about the Commission’s work on the middle years of childhood and how to register for seminars is available at www.kids.nsw.gov.au/kids/ourwork/middleyears.

SEMINAR 1: PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Seminar 1: Physical Development was held on 2 June 2011 at the NSW Parliament House.

Seminar 1 explores what is unique about the physical development of children in the middle years, including what is happening to the brain and contemporary understandings of puberty.
